Victorinox can trace its roots all the way back to 1884 when Karl Elsener opened his cutler’s workshop in Ibach-Schwyz, Switzerland. In 1891, he released his first soldier’s knife to the Swiss Army. In 1897 he developed the Swiss Officer’s and Sports Knife, what is now known the world over, as the Swiss Army Knife, an icon which has made Victorinox a household name all over the world.

Today the company has become a global entity producing Swiss Army Knives, household and professional knives, watches, travel gear, apparel and fragrances. The iconic Swiss Army Knife is still their core product and is described as having a pioneering role in the development of the company’s other product categories.
